FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are several questions that Dr. Ed gets asked. If you have a question that is not on the list below, feel free to come into the shop or contact us. Dr. Ed has 29 years of experience and would love to share some of his car knowledge with you!

  1. How often should I change my engine oil?

The service interval of your engine oil varies depending on the type of oil in your car. We recommend a 3000 mile interval for conventional oil, while some fully synthetic oils can last upwards of 10,000 miles. If you’ve had your oil changed by Dr. Ed in the past, please refer to the service interval sticker on the top left of your windshield, otherwise, feel free to contact us; we’d be happy to help!

  2. My check engine light is on, what should I do?

If your check engine light is on simply give us a call! We’d be happy to connect your vehicle to our OBDII diagnostic scanner to find out what’s causing the issue. We highly recommend that you be proactive with your visit. While many trouble codes are minor and require simple repairs, some can lead to loss of power and fuel efficiency or even premature engine failure!

  3. My engine is making a weird noise, what could be the cause?

Noisy engines are our specialty! Feel free to stop by or schedule an appointment. Dr. Ed will diagnose the noise and recommend a solution. Rest assured, you’ll always receive a fair price and will never feel pressured to make unnecessary costly repairs!

  4. Do you have vehicles for sale?

While vehicle sales are not the primary business of the shop, there are occasionally cars on the lot that can be purchased. If you’re in the market for a reliable used car, we encourage you to stop in and talk to Dr. Ed! He probably has some good deals that he’d love to share with you!

  5. Can I sell my vehicle on your lot?

Sure! Space is limited so there is no guarantees, but feel free to inquire by giving us a call or emailing info@dredsauto.com.

  6. Do you work on other vehicles?

Have a motorcycle or boat engine that’s giving you trouble? Dr. Ed’s Auto is primarily a car repair shop, but we strive to help any customer in need! While we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to help, we’d love to try!

  7. Do you offer pre-purchase inspections?

Of course! We’ll give your potential purchase a once over and let you know of any potential issues. Please contact us for pricing.

  8. What payment methods do you accept?

We can accept cash or check. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

  9. Can you repair my flat tire?

We sure can! While not all flats are repairable, we’ll try our hardest to save your tire. If the puncture is severe or on the sidewall of the tire, we’d be more than happy to order a replacement.

  10. Do you offer towing services?

We do not have our own tow truck, but can recommend several reliable and friendly servicers to you. If your in a jam and need advice, feel free to give us a call. Dr. Ed will advise you on whether its safe to drive your vehicle in or if you should wait for a tow.
